Be Curious

Being curious is a hunger to learn more and explore a topic. You are usually curious when studying a theme that you find interesting, your curiosity is usually identified by finding ways to acquire the knowledge, either through asking questions to a teacher who is talking to you about the subject or researching your questions.

Every day, you are curious about something, when out on a walk and want to explore a new route or when doing maths, and you are curious if there are multiple ways of solving a question. Curiosity can have a big impact on the world, not just affecting yourself. Throughout history there have been many discoveries as the produce of people being curious.

Curiosity helps open new doors. These doors could be the entrance to a new challenge. Curiosity encourages the willingness to explore new things helping your risk taking skills to improve. There was a time when I took a risk, when I went on holiday in Morocco, we went to a desert to go quad biking. This was a new activity, I had never come across a vehicle like this before, so I was questioning how well I would do. So when I got on the quad bike I was curious on how the buttons would work so I asked the instructor. As I familiarise myself I felt ready to drive. I got comfortable while I went through the terrain, I enjoyed myself very much. Now looking back on the experience, I would have regretted it if I had not taken up the challenge and I am glad that I was curious to explore the task.

Being curious is a positive characteristic, which is like a super power that helps you to learn and understand things better. When you are faced with a new activity that you find difficult, it could frighten you but when you look into it a bit more and become more familiar with it, you could find a new profound love for the activity. This sensation of overcoming a challenge could help boost your confidence and over time a stronger overall wellbeing.

Curiosity benefits others, like friendships. Being curious is what starts friendships. When you meet someone new, the first question you could ask is `what is your name ?` something as simple as that shows you are interested in that person leading to a conversation, helping a new friendship blossom. By asking your friends how they feel it suggests to them that you care for them with genuine interest in their feelings they would be grateful, which helps to build trust.

Overall, curiosity is a superpower everyone has but people use it at different points, to either help ourself or others. It is a crucial part of life that can help from expanding our knowledge to spreading happiness.

We are lucky to be in a school where being curious is encouraged and we are exposed to a variety of themes. This is the chance to be curious and find something for you.
